Life can feel like a labyrinth.
Therapy offers a thread.
I'm Calum Roche, a psychoanalytic psychotherapy trainee in my fourth year at the Philadelphia Association, with over ten years' experience supporting people in the NHS. I offer depth-oriented psychotherapy for adults, working relationally to help you understand the patterns that shape your relationships, your sense of self and your wellbeing.
A relational approachWe look at how your relationships, past and present, shape the way you think, feel and connect with others.

How I work
Four ways of paying attention
My practice draws on four closely related traditions. In the room these aren't separate techniques, but different ways of understanding your history, your relationships, and the questions that matter most to you.
-
Our relationships shape how we connect. The relationship between therapist and client becomes part of the work itself — a place where long-standing patterns can be noticed and, over time, changed.
-
Much of what moves us lies beneath the surface. We explore how unconscious thoughts, feelings and early experiences shape present difficulties, so that insight can make lasting change possible.
-
A place to face life's fundamental questions — meaning, freedom, responsibility, mortality. The aim is not to remove uncertainty, but to live more authentically within it.
-
Above all, I try to understand your experience as you live it, without imposing assumptions. Seeing the world as you see it, carefully and without hurry, often brings its own clarity.
“There is a great deal of pain in life and perhaps the only pain that can be avoided is the pain that comes from trying to avoid pain”.
~R.D Laing
By addressing that pain, you can relieve it.
Get in touch.
Making the first step can feel daunting. You don't need the right words — a few lines about what has brought you here is more than enough. I aim to reply within two working days.
